Summer Experiment

I’ve taken off my fitbit watch and put on an anologue watch. Not counting my steps, but I can see what time it is in the sunshine (or indoors) without needing a two handed manouvre. I am not measuring my hours of sleep, or my heart beats per minute, or portions of ten minute exercises.

I have put away my electronic scales. So I won’t know if I have gained or lost half a kilogram, or if my percentage body fat has increased or decreased.

I have joined a gym. Specifically one with a pool and spa, so I can swim, steam, sauna and jacuzzi any time I like (for the next three months – it’s just a summer thing, as we are not “going away”)

I’ve not written much poetry since March, and unless this Summer Experiment throws up some inspiration, I’m not expecting to write much. My 2022 diary is practically empty (the page a day type where events are recorded in past tense) but my forthcoming engagements look promising.

I’ve painted a landscape on plywood outside my kitchen window, 4ft x 6ft. I’ve painted a peacock on the gate. I’ve repainted a fence, and repainted some garden ornaments.

I have five library books to read before next wednesday. I’ve had these book for four weeks already, and not read any of them. My local library has a limited amount of large print fiction, and no poetry books AT ALL.

The next thing to do is to block my games on my tablet. Watch this space.
