Fatherly Love

Until I watched his face

As his child appeared from inside me

I did not know there was Fatherly Love.

Nor did he.

I knew there would be Motherly Love.

It was in me before the birth

But discovering that fathers felt love too,

Was new to me.

I knew that when my daughter had children

She would feel motherly love

It would be in her. I could relate to that.

I didn’t think about my sons becoming fathers.

But now, to see the love my sons have for their children

is such a joy. Fatherly Love is wonderful.

I’m so glad it found them.
