There’s always a time
But not always a reason
To make the words rhyme
Less Poetry? Discuss
For me, there must be poetry
It’s not a choice.
Whether I could do with less – I doubt
Indeed, I know I could not do without.
Where would we be, without that inner voice
That speaks of love, and war,
That forms a song, a prayer.
we could do with less of – politics and tape
that binds us
we could do with less of – pain, disease and plague
that confines us
we could do with less of – conflict, anger, hate
that blinds us
But poetry – we need much more, not less –
it’s what defines us
And guides us through the trials of life
and through to death
Poetry – we need more – not less.
