police car outside.
police car parked outside my door / wonder what they’re looking for / never been in trouble with the law / well – just that once but that was before – and I wasn’t charged.
across the street an open door / not open wide – just ajar / two policemen masks on chins / I wonder if they just barged in / and if the occupants will shout – and turn them out.
I know they’ve got an outside bar / Invite their mates round for a jar / they shout and swear but I won’t tell / in case t’cops question me as well.
no need to panic. nowt to fear / I just don’t like them being here /
I just won’t look – I’ll go to bed / it’s not as though I’m in the wrong. / I suppose I should just hide this bong – and turn the lights out in the shed.
Twitching curtains, nets and blinds / They all know me and they don’t mind / They know there’s no-one else that cares / We nod and smile but rarely speak / We know a lot but never squeak / They scratch my back and I mind theirs – If you get my drift.
The cops go back towards their car / I sense they’ll not be going far / One looks up and sees me smoking / Oh no they’re coming here – no joking / Quickly I put out my spliff / And hope they didn’t catch the whiff / They’re on my path, they ring my bell / Oh No! They found me, Bloody Hell!
