What’s your barrier of choice
Wall, windows or Door?
The Wall you hide behind
Doors you open when you choose
Windows, peeping through the blind
You have to look, or lose.
Windows. Ah. See the sights
Things you might accomplish if you dare
View without the risk of real
See it all without the other senses
Without the hurt. Don’t be scared
But close the shutters if you choose
Doors have keys they lock you in
Or out, depending on the holder
Walls are safe and strong, secure
Like prison cells, dark and colder
Windows, Walls and Doors
The barriers we set before ourselves
Which one do you choose?
Doors slam either side
You lose
Windows open wide
Breathe the air, enjoy the views
Then if they see you
Hide behind the wall again
Lock the door. Close the blinds
But mind, life cannot be lived like this,
hidden away
Doors slam either side
You lose
Go to the window
Show your face
Fight the fear
Lift the latch
Open your door
Feel the breeze on your skin
Let it in. This is life,
Let it begin.
