She crept and kept on creeping

I slept and kept on sleeping

She tiptoed to the sky and turned it pink and red

I rubbed my eyes and turned away my head

She rose and touched the clouds with gold and yellow

I closed my eyes and pushed my head into the pillow

She waited – gave me chance to change my mind

I hesitated, glanced, and closed the blind

She comes she rises every single day

I slumber on

She quickens, warms, and warns me of the day

And then she’s gone

That golden hour of sunrise, waiting to be kissed

Another opportunity I missed

Another wasted morning in my bed

When I could have (insert phrase here) instead

Washed the car

Walked the dog

Mowed the lawn

Gone for a jog

Done my homework

Gone to the gym

Written a poem

Gone for a swim
