Today is National Poetry Day. I will be travelling on the poetry train between Sheffield and Huddersfield, reading and listening to poetry. As a bonus, this rail line also takes me over the Denby Dale viaduct and the Penistone viaduct. Not much of a view of them, I know, but looking forward to it anyway. Penistone viaduct picture here.
Hope to take a trip here soon and put my own photos on. There’s a decent flat walk, and it’s the only place to get a view of the arches. There are 28 arches, on a curve. It goes over the river Don, and extends as a small bridge over Sheffield road B6462. There’s an interesting history to the bridge which you can find here.
