It’s a cold, wintery Lent this year. Starting on Ash Wednesday, 14th February it will run till Easter at the beginning of April. 40 days, as per you would expect. So I set myself a challenge. Not a “give it up for Lent” challenge. Just a “be creative in Lent” challenge. Hoping this would stimulate a sluggish start to the new year and encourage either creative writing or creative art work. Specifically, produce something every day.
Here’s the first ten. They won’t all be fabulous. It’s just a way of getting going.

14th and 15th
This was just a small painting to use up left over acrylics from the one before.
16th Cubic shapes. This was an exercise using some new brush pens and black marker

17th An edit of “I wear my nightclothes inside out”. See it in Poems tab
18th. Paperless office
Paperless office
Paperless office. Thats what they said
Now there’s four thousand emails to read instead
Don’t post your letters send an email
Now there’s four thousand letters in my gmail
Even though I have read and replied and deleted
Gmail saves a copy so it has to be repeated
Photos for “face book” and “what’s app” fill up all free space
Digital disasters all over the place
So I’m sorting it out and when I get it all clear
I’ll just be a Luddite – Get Me Out of Here!

19th Reflected. A water colour version of the earlier one. Not happy with it but adding it for the collection. I’ll decide on a good version and frame it. They always look better framed, but I don’t often feel they are worth the effort.

20th Hopeful of spring to come. Acrylics. I like this one.

21st View from a boat (painting to follow. It needs a picture, doesn’t it?)
This is the life I dream of
This is the life I need
Looking at the sparkling water,
The mountains and the sea
Nothing else to think about
Nothing to spoil the view
It would be Oh so perfect
If this was your dream too.
22nd Jellyfish. Water colour on wet multi media paper
23rd Private Life.
Your private life’s not private any more
The internet holds everything you share
You cannot hide your life behind the screen
And robots are emerging everywhere
Our secrets are all held within the cloud
We use it and we give it all our trust
But one day soon that cloud is gonna burst
And rain is gonna turn your life to rust
Your mind is still your own – maintain it
Keep it fresh and use it every day
Fight against this tide of cloud control
Don’t let if fade or give it all away
It wont be long we’ll be assimilated
AI will grow and infiltrate us all
They’ll tell us what to think – we’ll be outdated
Too late – you’ll find your back against the wall

Hope I can keep it going to the end of next month. I’ve been doing some sketching, but not uploaded them yet. Check back soon.
