I’m walking briskly on Wood Lane Bridge
No lingering today
No photographing memories
Of the place we used to play.
It’s far too breezy on Wood Lane Bridge
To photograph the view
So I’ve photographed this sign instead
And that will have to do.

The air is bracing on Wood Lane Bridge
And there’s not that much to see –
No railway running underneath
Like there used to be.
No jangling freight, No engines.
Gone, the signal box
No marshalling yard and sidings
Just weeds, and clay, and rocks.
It’s far too breezy on Wood Lane Bridge
To photograph the view
But I’m happy with my memories
And that will have to do!
