Picture
I’ll paint a picture of my life
The way its meant to be
I’ll paint it over the canvas
Of the life that belonged to me
I’ll paint green fields over rocky roads
And pipe the dreams back into my skies
Brush over stinging-nettled words
Turn wasps to butterflies
I’ll paint joy over my sorrows
And paint hope across my fears
And jewels glistening in the grass
Instead of salty tears
There’ll always be a mountain
But I’ll paint an easier climb
And I’ll paint it in the distance
And allow myself more time
I know the canvas underneath
Still holds the life I knew
But the future will be brighter
Because now – I’ve painted you.
