An Old Love Boat. A sonnet.

My love, I write with long forgotten words

Re-kindle ing the feelings in my heart

Perhaps this spark will light a smouldering flame

Although I doubt I know just where to start.

You are my life-long love. You know that much

I stand beside you now as in the past

Bitter storms and age leave only mem’ries

But love and trust between us still holds fast

The ship we dreamed of tossed us out to sea

We lay exhausted on the pebbled shore

Our passion spent, we look to one another

And doubt that we can do this any more.

Stay strong my love. We have to keep afloat

And bail the water from our leaky boat.
